BOREHOLE LOGGING

Video and Geophysical Surveys

Earth Data Northeast conducts borehole video and geophysical surveys using state-of-the-art equipment and experienced personnel. Copies of digital logs and video tapes are provided to the customer in the field. Surveys are conducted around the clock and all field personnel are trained and certified as specified in Federal Regulation 29 CFR 1910.120.

Earth Data Northeast provides fully equipped, heated and air-conditioned vans to conduct video and geophysical surveys
in wells, boreholes and mine openings throughout the Eastern United States. Clients include drilling contractors, water
companies, consulting firms, hydrogeologists, regulatory and research agencies, municipalities and industries.

BOREHOLE VIDEO LOGGING
Color borehole video surveys provide an excellent means to determine the exact depth and condition of water bearing openings in consolidated rock aquifers. Surveys featuring a 360û side view also provide an excellent tool for examining the condition of well casing and screens after construction and before and after well redevelopment work. Borehole video surveys are helpful during attempts to fish out pipe, pumps and other objects from wells. It is now recommended that a video survey be conducted inside new wells prior to final acceptance to insure that no tools or other materials have been left in the well.

A video survey also helps to ensure that the well meets specification requirements. Video Surveys of a new well provide a benchmark for later comparisons.

Characteristics of Earth Data Northeast’s Borehole video system include the following:

  • Camera provides both down-hole and 360°
    continuous side viewing.
  • Surveys are in automatically compensated COLOR.
  • Depth capability is 1,200 feet.
  • Surveys are recorded using both VCR and DVD technologies so that a first generation tape is provided to the customer or consultant in the field.
  • Color camera is 3.5 inches in diameter with interchangeable light heads for boreholes 4 to 24 inches in diameter.
  • High-resolution color monitor is provided in the field for customer viewing.
  • Detailed reports which provide an interpretation of the borehole video survey can be provided upon request.
  • Color, still-image printouts available.
  • Mini-cam provides color survey for wells 2 to 3 inches in diameter.

BOREHOLE GEOPHYSICAL LOGGING

Earth Data Northeast’s geophysical logging system has a total depth capability of 1,200 feet. Data is collected in a digital format for on-site log reproduction and ease of storage. A field computer and printer provide control of the digital system and allow maximum flexibility for various outputs.

The borehole geophysical logs available from Earth Data Northeast include:

  • Electric logs
    – Single Point Resistance
    – 16” and 64” Normal Resistivity
    – Spontaneous Potential
  • Natural Gamma (can be utilized inside well casing)
  • Caliper
  • Fluid Temperature
  • Brine Trace Testing
  • Fluid Conductivity
  • Heat Pulse Flowmeter
  • Acoustic Televiewer
  • Induction

Log interpretation and analysis is available upon request.
